Dr. Stephanie Barbosa's practice focuses on all phases of highly sophisticated patent prosecution for clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical arts. In addition to her expertise in drafting and prosecuting technically complex patent applications, Stephanie also has considerable experience in reexaminations, reissues, freedom to operate, validity, and infringement opinions, as well as due diligence.
Stephanie tailors her client counseling to the needs of each individual client. Whether a Fortune 500 company, university, start-up, or individual inventor, Stephanie provides services guided by the business needs of each client. Stephanie has served as "in-house" counsel, working closely with the client at its facility to provide one-on-one patent services. Large portfolios require adroit management and Stephanie demonstrates her proficiency by directing patent prosecution of several complex portfolios both in the U.S. and abroad. Stephanie was instrumental in obtaining key patent coverage on new technologies for pharmaceutical, medical device, and material science clients that have since been commercialized or licensed. As one of the few patent lawyers in the country with a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry and experience as a research chemist at a major pharmaceutical company, Stephanie's expertise in small molecule design, synthesis, formulation, and use is exceptional.
Stephanie graduated first in her class from Rutgers University School of Law-Camden. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania where she worked under the direction of Professor Amos B. Smith, III. She received her B.A. from Rutgers University.
Stephanie is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
