Prior to joining Woodcock Washburn, Joel D Myers was a founding member in the Law Firm of Myers & Kaplan, LLC, Intellectual Property Law, a twelve-attorney firm focusing exclusively on patents, trademarks, copyrights, and related litigation.

Registered as a patent attorney to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Joel's legal work encompasses all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, and copyright cases. He represents and counsels clients in prosecution, litigation, licensing, management, and disposition of intellectual property assets. Joel has represented clients in fields as diverse as nanotechnology, software, tools, injection molding, consumer products, automotive products, computer, business methods, internet technologies, vision systems, films, manufacturing process technologies, sporting goods, and many others.

Prior to attending law school, Joel worked as a Nuclear Engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense on the nuclear submarine program in Charleston, SC and Valejo, CA.

In his spare time, Joel enjoys tennis, automobile racing, traveling, and music.
